Following the success of our work on the Roller Rink within the Whitehill and Bordon regeneration project, Studio Carver was asked to develop a brief and concept designs for a community building in the development’s new Town Centre.
The Makers Market will combine established and start-up business uses and a range of community and cultural spaces, all under a single roof.
Each element of the design can be operated and managed autonomously, or together for larger events and programmes. The building is arranged over two floors and clustered around a flexible, shared multi-use space that can support events, weekend markets and fairs.
The design’s permeability allows visitors and passer-byes to circulate under, over and through the site, encouraging everyday interaction with the building and (re)discovery of its various and changing uses.
